This Power Wagon is small but mighty machine on the rough terrains.

It's almost hard to believe that radio-controlled cars have been around for over five decades now. The first consumer-grade RC car arrived in 1966, and over the years, we've seen tons and tons of radio-controlled cars, encompassing just about every type of automobile, facet of car culture, and price range. RC cars start with the toy grade, which are mostly for children, and aren't very complicated. For the big kids, there's the hobby grade RC car.

As well as being more expensive, these are a lot more intricate; they allow a fair bit of input and modifications from the owner, and the choice is also significantly bigger. For hobby grade RC cars, there are multiple different routes you can take. One of those is off-roading, and if you want an RC car that will put a huge smile on your face as it tackles the rough stuff, while not breaking the bank and being safer than sitting in actual off-roaders, you should definitely check out FMS Model's FCX24 Power Wagon.

The FCX24 Power Wagon is a 1:24 scale off-road RC car, an in-house-made machine from FMS Model themselves. They have styled it to look like a 1940s workhorse, with giant all-terrain tires, with a spare tire and rollover cage in place of the rear truck bed. You can't load your 1:24 scale farming equipment onto the back of this one, but the cut truck bed is definitely a cool aesthetic. It's essentially the retro, four-wheeled version of RocHobby's Cheyenne 6X6.

Of course, such an off-roader needs some oomph to tackle the rough stuff, and the FCX24 certainly has that. FMS Model is touting it as a high-performance crawler, a lot like the SHERP ATV. The drivetrain backs it all up. At the heart of the Power Wagon is a 130 brushed motor, connected to a 2-speed transmission and a transfer case. You can speed through rough terrain, but there's also a rock crawling mode available. A high strength nylon frame, four-link suspension with oil springs, portal axles, like on a Mercedes G-Class 4x4 and 24 ball bearings in the wheels round off the drivetrain, ensuring that the Power Wagon will be an unstoppable, small but mighty machine on the rough terrains.

FMS Model offers the FCX24 Power Wagon in three different colors, those being red, blue, and yellow. It only comes in ready-to-run form, and the box includes the chassis and body, the accessory roll cage and spare tire (which you can optionally install yourself), a Li-ion battery, and the transmitter. The transmitter runs off three AAA batteries, which are not included. Also included is an instruction booklet in both English and Chinese.

The price for all of this off-road fun is $149.99. Considering what you get in the box and how many features this offers, that's a pretty low price, and definitely worth checking out. Interested?
