"Texture is key in swimwear right now, which bodes well for those seeking out white," says Jennifer Pennington, a multi-channel swimwear buyer for Nordstrom. "Ribbed, pucker, crochet, and eyelet fabrics provide support while double linings and cups with padding will help a combat any see-through issues."
Suzanne Bryant, vice president of women’s swim and resort wear at Tommy Bahama tells Brides, "Look for a high-quality fabric, lining, and construction," That includes things like a controlling power mesh liner to prevent see-through issues as well as smooth the stomach.
Always check the care label, but one of the best ways to clean a swimsuit is by handwashing it with a mild detergent or a swimsuit cleaner that’s designed to remove chlorine and sunscreen, shares Pennington. If you notice your white bathing suit has yellowed, add a few tablespoons of fabric-brightening baking soda to a sink filled with cool water. Rinse your bathing suit, then line dry. "Never put your swimsuit in the dryer or you’ll risk compromising the stretch and color," adds Bryant.
The options are endless because white goes with just about anything—consider a dark pair of sunglasses, colorful sandals or wedges, metal jewelry, or a natural-toned straw bag or hat. "A white suit can easily transition from day to night," says Bryant. "For a classic look, I love a one-piece bandeau worn with a beautiful gold necklace and a pareo sarong or beach pant."
