Recently, Apple expanded its Self Service Repair program to MacBook models with M1 series chips that include 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro launched in 2020 and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro launched in 2021.
After reviewing the repair manuals for any of the above-mentioned MacBook models, owners can order parts and tools from the Self Service Repair Store to replace the faulty hardware in the machines either by themselves or a third-party repair expert.
Apple’s Self Service Repair Store does not list the prices of replaceable parts on its website and customers have to enter their product and its series number to see the information.
Customers can also return the replaced parts to Apple and earn credit for purchases.
For each MacBook model covered under the Self Service Program, customers can purchase tool kits for up to $300 or they can rent them from Apple for $49. However, customers will have to pay for each damaged or miss placed tool in the rental kits.
